Who I Am
Busayo Oluwadamilare Morakinyo (BOM) is a co-founder of Creative Ideation Hub, a social innovator co-creation that supports and develops young Africans' innovative civic tech and government tech ideas, curating local solutions for local problems through experimental lean testing of these solutions that benefit their home communities. I am recognised as an exceptional UK Global Talent Endorsee, demonstrating my acknowledged expertise and exceptional abilities in social development and digital technology.
I am a social development, governance, public policy, tech, and social accountability professional with nearly a decade of experience working with communities across Africa to increase community engagement and governance. As a disruptive innovator with a pan-African focus, I have a proven track record of successfully managing relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders and partners in Africa's social development ecosystem, including government, policymakers, community-based organisations, civil society, and donors. I engineered the growth and scale of the fastest-growing social accountability movement in Africa - FollowTheMoney. I created and managed the expansion of the movement to the 36 states of Nigeria and 10 African countries (Liberia, Kenya, South Sudan, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, The Gambia, Cape Verde and Ghana). Using technology, we are building a network of over 12,000 young people in Africa demanding better public services from their elected representatives. I serve on the boards of several start-ups, including BoysQuarters Africa, Teach the Child, Open Sunshine, Urban Alert, and FuturePathways Development Initiative, all of which are social development startups focused on gender, social accountability, education, policy, governance, advocacy, and campaigns. I also mentor a number of other organisations as they progress through their formative years and scale. I am a two-time TEDx speaker who has mastered the act and art of storytelling as a tool for citizen mobilisation and participation. My practical experience includes tech, social accountability, advocacy, campaigns, grassroots mobilisation, citizen engagement, capacity building, and research. I hold a bachelor's degree in History and International Studies, as well as a master's degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies.
